Last week I played after a three week break, thanks to our vacation, which supposedly gave my plantar-fasciitis stricken heels a chance to recover. I was pretty nonexistent for most of the game, though I almost scored past our own keeper and twisted my ankle on the play. But it was a good win - we came back from a goal down with two late ones.
My ankles were just a bad after the game, so I did physio this week - actually, I saw a podiatrist, and he taped up my ankles and put new padding on my insoles.
I didn't ask him about my ankle, figuring it would heal by the weekend, but it didn't. So I went to today's game expecting not to be able to play, and telling my coach as much. But I told him I'd tape it up tight and give it a go. A teammate also gave me a couple of muscle relaxants - Voltaren - which really seemed to help! I made it though the whole game with only a few twinges. I didn't push it, because I'm not stupid, and I was playing with the expectation that it would give out any second, so I didn't play all that well. But it was a thriller, ending up 5-5 with four lead changes. We maybe should've won but we couldn't defend our leads - our back line was a bit shambolic.
