Soccer

Another awesome game today, knocking off the number three team (after beating the number one and number two teams in previous weeks). We held off their onslaught through the first half, and had a couple of chances ourselves. Went ahead in the second half off a corner kick, then got another off of a flicked-on throw in. They got one back, then started coming at us in waves, but we held them off. Very satisfying. A little jarring on the brain -- seems like I had a couple of dozen clearing headers. Plus I had to skip breakfast, as my guts were still churning from last night's vindaloo. I was repeating like a howitzer.

But good fun. No real goal chances. A shower-stinger on each knee.

Soccer

Game Sunday, by consensus, was shithouse. I mean, we won 2-1, but should've won by a lot. They only had nine players to start, but we couldn't get anything going. Our game-winner was in the dying minutes.

I didn't have a horrible game, I don't think, but nothing dazzling. Put a couple of headers over the goal, and inadvertantly attempted a Maradona "Hand of God" shot at goal. Injuries: knee scrape, yellowish bruise on left arm.

Soccer

Cracking good game on Sunday as we took on the top team in the league and won 1-0. My play wasn't stellar but it was good enough. Two great saves by our keeper (and another by the goalpost) kept our advantage. Very satisfying. The team we beat last week is the number two team, so we're on a roll.

No shots or clear chances. Left ankle is wonky, like the arch has fallen or something, but is improving. Strange contusion on left arm that looks like a cut but the outer layer of skin isn't broken. Hip problem? What hip problem?

Movies

Saw "Topsy-Turvy" tonight, which was good. I'm a budding Gilbert and Sullivan fan.

Also rewatched "Barcelona".

Soccer

Great game today, against a small, fast, and young team, Kooyong, who are vying for the top of the table. We scored, then they scored twice, before we equalized just before halftime. Then we scored again, they equalized, and finally we were awarded a penalty to seal the match. All their goals were soft -- two questionable penalties and scrappy cleanup off a keeper miscue.

I went up for a few corners but nothing came my way. Injuries: scraped left knee, left, forearm, and I kicked the scab off my right heel, which was annoying. I went head-to-head with one of their guys, and took him out completely, but it didn't hurt me at all -- the hard part of my head to the soft part of his. I have some fitness back, and my hip seems completely back in the game. Woot! Good fun.

Movies

Tonight we watched "Madagascar" and "The Aristocrats". About as different as two movies can be, but both were funny.
